FINLAND IS THE 2022 ICE HOCKEY WORLD CHAMPION

The Finnish national team in overtime with a score of 4:3 beat the Canadian team in the final match of the Ice Hockey World Championship. The meeting was held on Sunday in Tampere, Finland.

Mikael Granlund (45th and 46th minutes), Yoel Army (55) scored goals in the Finnish national team, Sakari Manninen scored in overtime (67). Dylan Cozens (25), Zach Whitecloud (58) and Max Comtois (59) scored goals for the Canadians. After the second missed puck due to injury, the goalkeeper of the Canadian national team Chris Drieger left the ice, he was replaced by Matt Tomkins.

The Finnish national team won the World Cup for the fourth time. Previously, the Finns won in 1995, 2011 and 2019. Finnish hockey players have won silver medals ten times and bronze medals three times.

Earlier on Sunday, the Czech national team beat the USA with a score of 8:4 in the match for the third place of the World Cup.

The teams of Finland and Canada met in the final of the third World Championship in a row. In 2019, the Finns won (3:1), in 2021 the Canadians won (3:2 FROM). The Canadians have won the World Championship 27 times and share the record for this indicator with domestic hockey players (22 victories for the USSR national team, 5 for the Russian national team).
